Foreign Ownership on Amman Stock Exchange Stands at 46.1% in July

Amman: Statistics released by the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) showed that stock purchases by non-Jordanian investors through the market reached 32.8 million Jordanian dinars ($46.2 million) in July, representing 10.7 percent of total trading volume, while non-Jordanian stock sales during the same period totaled 46.3 million dinars.

According to Jordan News Agency, cumulative non-Jordanian stock purchases from the beginning of the year through the end of July reached approximately 231.6 million dinars, accounting for 11.7 percent of total trading volume, compared to 281.8 million dinars in stock sales by foreign investors over the same period.

Arab investor purchases in July amounted to 30.2 million dinars, or 92.2 percent of total non-Jordanian purchases, while their sales reached 44.6 million dinars, or 96.3 percent of total non-Jordanian sales. Non-Arab foreign purchases totaled 2.6 million dinars (7.8 percent of non-Jordanian purchases), while non-Arab sales stood at 1.7 million dinars (3.7 percent of non-Jordanian sales).

According to ASE data, non-Jordanian ownership in listed companies represented 46.1 percent of total market capitalization at the end of July, with institutional investors including companies, institutions, and funds holding 32.5 percent.

Arab investors held 30.0 percent of total market capitalization, while non-Arab investors held 16.1 percent. By sector, non-Jordanian ownership reached 48.1 percent in the financial sector, 22.7 percent in the services sector, and 51.0 percent in the industrial sector.
