Amman: A former employee of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has been placed under one week of detention at the Marka Correctional and Rehabilitation Center by Public Prosecutor for Integrity and Anti-Corruption Muhammad Bani Taha for defrauding a citizen by falsely claiming that he could secure jobs for his sons in the municipality. According to Jordan News Agency, the suspect, who had previously held the post of division head, fraudulently claimed that he could get positions for the victim's kids at GAM in exchange for money. He also fabricated a store closure order and stated he could rescind it in exchange for financial compensation, according to a statement from the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC). The Public Prosecution has charged the suspect with fraud and abuse of office. The IACC had previously referred the case to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
