FORMER PRESIDENT SLEIMAN VISITS DERAIN, URGES IMMEDIATE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AMID NATIONAL CRISIS

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian on Wednesday welcomed Former Lebanese President Michel Sleiman at Dar al-Fatwa. Sleiman emphasized the urgency of electing a new president amid the current national crises, citing the dire state of institutions and the country's overall distress. He also stressed the need to open Parliament without preconditions and to engage in dialogue to address the nation's interests, including ending the conflict in the south. In other meetings, Mufti Derian welcomed MP Walid al-Baarini, Akkar Mufti Sheikh Zaid Bakkar Zakaria, Lebanese University President Dr. Bassam Badran, and others, discussing regional and educational matters.
