Fuheis: Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri on Tuesday sponsored the official Fuheis Municipality ceremony to light the Christmas and New Year tree in the Old Town (Qanater Theatre), in the presence of Acting Balqa Governor Ali Bataineh. Masri stated that in Jordan, across all its regions, "we are bound together by the values of love for Jordan, authenticity and Arab culture, a feature that many peoples of the world lack."
According to Jordan News Agency, Masri emphasized the fortune of living in Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who unites his people irrespective of their religions or regions. He highlighted that Jordan has witnessed many civilizations but has preserved its Arab identity and values.
Chairman of the Fuheis Municipal Committee Imad Hiyari expressed that the municipality and local administration are dedicated to promoting culture, creativity, human interaction, participation, and partnership through community activities. These are considered essential to Jordan's civilized image under King Abdullah II's leadership. Hiyari noted that the annual gathering renews the covenant with the city by lighting the tree of love and peace, symbolizing a history and culture crafted by its people. He emphasized Fuheis society's role as ambassadors of human values, love, justice, and peace, reflecting Jordan's broader image.
Archimandrite Boulos Haddad, representing the clergy of the Apostolic Churches of Fuheis, remarked on the blessing of peace and love enjoyed under King Abdullah II's patronage, distinguishing Jordan in a world where many countries face turmoil. He expressed pride in being Jordanian Christians in a nation renowned for coexistence and fraternity, united with fellow citizens in promoting the country's prosperity.
The celebration featured the lighting of the Christmas tree, with Christmas hymns performed by artist Violetta Yousef. The choir of the Orthodox School of Fuheis delivered religious chants, complemented by religious and national musical performances by the Scouts band of the Orthodox School of Fuheis.
