Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced that it responded to 29 reports submitted to the Tla'a Al-Ali Emergency Operations Center during the recent air depression.
According to Jordan News Agency, the GAM's official spokesperson, Nasser Rahamneh, stated that most cases involved overflowing sewage drains and rainwater accumulation in several locations due to the heavy rainfall over a short period. Rahamneh noted that the GAM's field teams and equipment addressed all reports sent to the operations center and took the necessary measures immediately.
In one instance, rainwater accumulation in Amman's Shmeisani area was caused by connecting roof gutters to the sewage network. This issue was resolved in cooperation with Miyahuna Water Company. Crews also managed water accumulations in Amman's Shafa Badran neighborhood due to soil erosion, as well as similar incidents in the Zaytouna Tunnel on Airport Road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Works.
The GAM had declared a moderate state of emergency on Tuesday to manage the weather conditions, confirming its crews' readiness to respond to any reports submitted to the emergency operations center. The GAM encouraged citizens to contact the unified call center at 102 and 117180 to report any issues.
