Gaza Death Toll Nears 55,000 as Israel Continues War on Palestinians

Gaza: At least 54,927 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's war in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the Health Ministry said on Monday. A ministry statement indicated that 47 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 388 people were injured. This brings the total number of injuries in the ongoing Israeli onslaught to 126,615.

According to Anadolu Agency, many victims remain trapped under rubble and on roads as rescuers face challenges reaching them. The Israeli army resumed its attacks on March 18, resulting in the deaths of 4,649 people and injuries to 14,574 others. This resurgence of violence shattered a previously held ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The charges include war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
