Germany’s Merz Urges Netanyahu to Facilitate Urgent Humanitarian Aid to Starving Civilians in Gaza

Berlin: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Sunday called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow urgent humanitarian aid into Gaza, citing the dire conditions faced by "starving civilians."

According to Jordan News Agency, in a statement released by his office, Merz stressed that the assistance "must reach the civilian population quickly, safely, and in sufficient quantities," expressing "deep concern" over the "catastrophic" humanitarian situation in the enclave.

Merz emphasized that "the measures recently announced by the Israeli government must be swiftly followed by new, concrete actions." He referred to the Israeli army's announcement earlier Sunday of a daily "tactical pause" in military operations across parts of Gaza. This pause is intended to secure humanitarian corridors for UN and international agencies delivering food and medicine to Gaza's residents.
