HEC Approves New University Presidents for Petra University and Kingdom University of Health Sciences

Amman: The Higher Education Council (HEC) has announced the appointment of two new university heads, marking a significant development in the academic landscape. Dr. Ali Mahmoud Ali Abu Ghneimeh has been appointed as President of Petra University for a four-year term beginning on September 1, 2026.

According to Jordan News Agency, the decision was made during a session on Thursday, presided over by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzeh. The appointment of Dr. Abu Ghneimeh was based on the recommendations from the university's Board of Trustees, underscoring a strategic decision aimed at enhancing the institution's leadership.

In addition, the HEC approved the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hamid Qudah as President of the Kingdom University of Health Sciences (KU) for a four-year term, effective immediately. This decision was also based on the recommendation of the university's Board of Trustees, reflecting a move to bolster the leadership team at KU in alignment with its academic goals and objectives.
