Ramtha: Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat announced that the ministry is advancing projects aimed at enhancing the agro food industry throughout the Kingdom by supporting small- and medium-sized factories. These factories play a crucial role in developing the agricultural value chain and managing surplus seasonal production.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the inauguration of a new factory for packaging and processing frozen fruits and vegetables in Al-Hassan Industrial City, Hneifat emphasized that such initiatives would contribute to achieving national food security and minimizing agricultural loss. He highlighted the economic benefits of these investments, which create both direct and indirect job opportunities and boost commercial and agricultural activities, especially in governorates with significant agricultural output.
Hneifat indicated that the ministry is collaborating with the private sector to broaden the local food manufacturing base. This collaboration includes providing support in financing, guidance, and technical and logistical areas, ensuring the sustainability of these projects and their potential for expansion and export to international markets.
Iman Bani Saeed, the manager of the new factory, praised the Agriculture Ministry for its support, responsiveness, and continuous engagement, which have been instrumental in enhancing investment in agri-food industries. The factory serves as a significant example of the state's commitment to food manufacturing as a strategic priority for agricultural and economic development. It is part of a broader initiative where 20 factories have already been launched, demonstrating the government's dedication to channeling investments into regions with high agricultural activity, thus promoting balanced development and increasing reliance on local production.
The new factory, aligned with the National Sustainable Agriculture strategy's food manufacturing plan, initially provides around 40 direct job opportunities to local residents, with plans for future expansion promising even more employment prospects.
