Amman: Honey production in Jordan saw an increase in 2024, with yields 28.6% up from the previous year, reaching 418 tons, compared to 325 tons in 2023, according to the Department of Statistics' annual report.

According to Jordan News Agency, the survey cited an increase in pollen production to 7,624 kilograms, marking an 80.6% rise from 2023. This significant uptick in pollen production has contributed to the overall boost in honey yields.

The report also highlighted a 5.9% drop in bee colony production last year, despite an 84% increase in queen bee production compared to the previous year. This indicates a shift in the dynamics of bee population growth and productivity.

Moreover, there was a 110% rise in the number of bee colonies, which grew to 84,442 in 2024, compared to 40,217 in 2023. This substantial increase in colonies has played a crucial role in the enhanced honey production for the year.

However, the average honey production per colony experienced a decline, with figures showing a drop of 39%, from 8 kilograms per colony in 2023 to 4.9 kilograms in 2024. Despite this decrease in per-colony production, the overall increase in the number of colonies has resulted in higher total yields.
