The Lower House Finance Committee Chairman, MP Nimr Sleihat said the panel was briefed from Ministers of Finance, Mohammad Ississ and Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, about a draft law attached to the 2021 General Budget Law.

Presiding over the committee’s meeting on Sunday, Sleihat said the panel will hold deliberations at the end of this week to listen from the concerned ministers on the most prominent projects presented in the draft law, as well as spending monitoring mechanisms.

The MP said the amounts allocated in the attached bill came as a U.S. grant as a culmination of the Royal efforts to mitigate Covid-19 pandemic-induced effects, praising Washington’s support for Jordan.

For his part, Shraideh said the bill will “not add any deficit to the state’s general budget,” adding that it includes projects according to the priorities for the next stage.

Ississ noted the bill aims to help confront the Covid-19 pandemic, and reduce unemployment among Jordanians through the implementation of employment projects.
