Amman: The Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee condemned Iran's violation of Jordanian territory and airspace, calling it a blatant and unacceptable act of aggression that warrants a firm international response for its flagrant breach of international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
According to Jordan News Agency, in a statement issued on Monday, the committee emphasized that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, will not allow its territory or airspace to be used as an arena for settling regional disputes. They stressed that the kingdom's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens are red lines that cannot be compromised or treated with leniency.
The committee praised the determination and readiness of the Jordanian state and its institutions to protect the country's borders and preserve the independence of its decision-making. They commended the professionalism of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the security services in confronting any threat to the kingdom's security.
Furthermore, the committee called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in addressing what it described as violations that threaten regional stability. They added that Jordan's commitment to de-escalation and prudent diplomacy should not be misinterpreted as acceptance of any infringement on its security or sovereignty.
