Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Ahmad Safadi, on Sunday discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in parliamentary areas with the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan, Omar Ahmed Karim Barzanji.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi and Barzanji commended the Jordanian-Iraqi relations and emphasized the importance of building on these ties to serve common interests. Safadi highlighted that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is keen to enhance cooperation with Iraq, especially in parliamentary coordination to address bilateral and Arab issues.
Safadi further mentioned that His Majesty has expressed Jordan's view of Iraq's important role in the region. He highlighted the commitment of Jordan's state institutions to maintain ties with Iraq, requiring continuous efforts to explore common interests.
The Iraqi ambassador also emphasized the need for joint cooperation, particularly in parliamentary affairs, and stressed the importance of mutual economic collaboration and cultural exchange. Barzanji remarked on the strong relationship between the two countries and noted Iraq's view of Jordan as a steadfast ally.
Barzanji affirmed the commitment to thwart any attempts to disrupt bilateral relations, emphasizing the firm bilateral positions, particularly in preventing foreign interference and during the fight against ISIS and other threats.
