Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Mazen Qadi, has condemned the ongoing and systematic escalation of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, urging for "strong" Arab and international intervention to halt what he describes as escalating crimes indicative of state terrorism.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qadi highlighted the provocative and unlawful activities occurring at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, noting that these actions are conducted with the protection of the Israeli government and military. In a statement issued by the House on Tuesday, Qadi denounced the continuous storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the expansion of settlements, and campaigns targeting homes, properties, and agricultural lands, labeling them as severe breaches of international and humanitarian law.
Qadi asserted that Israel's actions represent a systematic policy designed to oppress Palestinians and forcibly impose new realities, a stance that Jordan does not accept under any circumstances. He called on the international community to reject and oppose these policies, asserting that these actions amount to organized terrorism and crimes warranting accountability and prosecution.
He warned that these crimes are extensions of Israeli settlement policies, which undermine efforts toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace, the establishment of a Palestinian state, and contribute to increasing tension and instability in the region. The House urged the international community, the Security Council, the United Nations, and the International Criminal Court to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by taking "effective and urgent" measures to cease the occupying state's terrorism and hold accountable those responsible for these crimes.
Furthermore, the House called for an end to the policy of impunity and for Israel, as the occupying power, to respect international law and resolutions of international legitimacy. This, Qadi emphasized, is the only way to ensure security, stability, and a just and lasting peace in the region.
