Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives Mazen Al-Qadi said the House believes in the role of the media in defending the Kingdom's mission, stressing that the media constitutes a frontline line of defense for the nation and that its relationship with parliament is an ongoing partnership, given that the battle for awareness is no less important than other defenses of Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Qadi made these remarks during a media networking session for women members of parliament titled "Strengthening Strategic Communication Channels Between Female MPs and the Media." The session aimed to foster cooperation between media institutions and the House of Representatives, highlighting that Jordan's resilience stems from cumulative awareness developed over years through a strong relationship between wise leadership, a loyal populace, and dedicated armed forces and security services.
Al-Qadi emphasized the importance of continuing qualitative cooperation with the media, particularly targeting women members of parliament. This initiative, organized by the Jordan Press Foundation, Al-Rai, in partnership with the General Secretariat of the Lower House of Representatives and UN Women, underscores the belief that the media is a genuine partner in national action, enhancing the reach and professionalism of the parliamentary voice.
Empowering women members of parliament through the media, Al-Qadi noted, strengthens their role in public discourse and delivers the national message with awareness and responsibility. He highlighted the complementary relationship between the House of Representatives and the media, which is rooted in oversight, awareness-building, legislative interpretation, and truthful reporting.
Al-Qadi praised the impactful presence of Jordanian media during pivotal moments, such as the Israeli aggression on Gaza, where it helped dismantle false narratives through professionalism and conscience. This media role aligns with Jordan's official stance and King Abdullah II's vision, emphasizing international law, justice, and Palestinian freedom.
He affirmed that Jordanian women have shown significant contributions in the Lower House, influencing legislation, oversight, and societal issues. Women's empowerment remains a deeply entrenched national practice within the framework of comprehensive modernization.
Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani underscored the importance of enhancing the media presence of women MPs as crucial for political and media discourse development. He advocated for structured cooperation between media institutions and the Lower House, ensuring professional delivery of parliamentary messages to the public.
Momani highlighted the joint effort between the House of Representatives and UN Women, focusing on media engagement skills and positive networking that improves public discourse quality. This initiative supports modernization paths championed by His Majesty King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, promoting women's empowerment and media presence.
He stressed that organizing media and public institution relations clarifies roles and responsibilities, preserving professionalism and ensuring transparent communication. Momani recognized the effective contributions of women MPs in legislative and oversight roles, emphasizing the importance of showcasing these experiences to reflect Jordanian society's diversity and strength.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Press Foundation, Al-Rai, Samih Maaytah, added that officials need media exposure and training, advocating for continual development of media skills for both officials and journalists.
