Seoul, South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group reported robust electric vehicle sales results in Germany from June to August despite slowing EV demand, a global market research firm said Tuesday. Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate Kia Corp. ranked fifth in the German EV market with combined sales of 8,638 EVs during the three-month period, according to the US-based automotive market tracker Clean Technica. Hyundai's Ioniq 5 model is among the bestselling EV models in Germany, Yonhap News Agency reported. Hyundai and Kia plan to launch the Casper Electric mini car and the EV3 compact model in Europe later this year to prop up sales despite the EV chasm, which occurs before the widespread adoption of pure electric cars. Volkswagen Group topped others with sales of 34,074 EVs in the three-month period, followed by BMW with 13,812 units, Mercedes-Benz with 10,084, and Tesla Inc. with 9,488, the tracker said.
