Irbid: Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI)'s general assembly members convened on Tuesday with the Jordanian-American Business Council (JABC) to outline the council's aims and activities.
According to Jordan News Agency, ICI Director General Nidal Al-Sadr explained that the discussion supports the chamber's initiatives to secure new export markets for local manufacturers. He highlighted the significance of the US market as one of the largest globally, noting that the existing tariff structure is favorable for the growth of Jordanian exports to the United States. Al-Sadr pointed out the importance of Jordanian products' quality and compliance with standards, emphasizing the role of international exhibitions in enhancing export figures and market diversification.
JABC President Tarek Al-Hassan remarked that the council, a non-profit entity with branches in Jordan as well as in other Arab, Asian, and African countries, is focused on expanding Jordanian industries' access to the US market. He elaborated that the council encompasses a broad array of sectors, including engineering, investment, education, energy, tourism, and more. Al-Hassan stressed the council's role in fostering direct business connections between Jordanian and US companies to boost exports, widen operational scopes, and create employment.
Al-Hassan further explained that membership in the council allows Jordanian firms to export as US-registered companies owned by foreign investors, which reduces their tax obligations and grants them access to benefits such as grants and public tender opportunities in the US. He encouraged Jordanian companies to enhance their presence in the US market and demonstrate the quality and competitiveness of their products by participating in an upcoming Jordanian industries exhibition slated for September 2026 in the United States.
