ICRC Chief Highlights Importance of Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Amman: President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric, emphasized that the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas must mark "a turning point in two years of unimaginable horror. It offers a vital chance to save lives and ease suffering."

According to Jordan News Agency, Spoljaric stated in an ICRC statement that ICRC teams positioned in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank are prepared to support the implementation of the ceasefire by assisting in the return of hostages and detainees to their families.

Additionally, Spoljaric underscored the ICRC's readiness to facilitate the return of human remains so that families can mourn their loved ones with dignity. She mentioned that teams are prepared to deliver more lifesaving aid into the Gaza Strip and distribute it to those most in need.

Spoljaric highlighted the critical nature of the coming days and urged the involved parties to adhere to their commitments. She stressed that release operations must be conducted safely and with dignity, and that humanitarian assistance should resume urgently at full capacity, being delivered safely to people wherever they are.
