Amman: The Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the European Union engaged in discussions on Monday to enhance bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on supporting Jordan's democratic process and widening the exchange of institutional expertise.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions were held during a meeting between IEC Chairman Mousa Al-Maaytah and EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe at the Commission's headquarters, attended by IEC Deputy Chair Angela Martini.
Al-Maaytah highlighted the significance of ongoing engagement with international partners in promoting democratic governance, expressing appreciation for the European Union's continued support for Jordan. He emphasized that this cooperation is a testament to the strategic partnership between Jordan and the EU, which receives special attention and backing from His Majesty King Abdullah II.
The EU Ambassador, in response, lauded the efforts of the Independent Election Commission in bolstering Jordan's democratic institutions and reiterated the European Union's dedication to providing ongoing support for Jordan and its national institutions. This commitment is part of a partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests.
