Police on Monday arrested a "masked" person, who fired shots during an election rally in the Karak Governorate, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) said. As the candidate was addressing the rally for the Karak constituency, a fan drew a gun and fired shots, and he was arrested shortly after the incident for violating campaign regulations, the commission said in a statement. "Such behavior is a clear violation of the rules of electoral conduct, and a breach of executive instructions of electoral campaigns," the commission said, adding that the candidate himself was referred to the Attorney General for the violation. The IEC reiterated that the public have the key role of maintaining the integrity of the elections and preventing violations, calling on citizens to report such incidents. Source: Jordan News Agency
