Amman: Jordan's Industrial Production Index (IPI) recorded a year-to-date increase of 0.48% through September, reaching 87.63 points compared to 87.22 points in the same period last year, as reported by the Department of Statistics. According to Jordan News Agency, breaking down the sectors, output in the mining sector surged by 8.34%, and electricity production rose by 5.41%, while manufacturing output slightly declined by 0.28%. For September alone, the IPI rose 3.41% year-on-year to 89.83 points, supported by gains in manufacturing (up 3.35%), mining (up 7.46%), and electricity production (up 0.71%). However, compared to August, the index declined by 1.17%, with a notable drop in electricity output (down 14.63%) and a 4.47% decrease in mining output, while manufacturing remained nearly flat with a minor increase of 0.01%.
