Amman: Industrial exports grew by 1.4 percent to JD7.8 billion in 2024, compared to the previous year, despite regional challenges, according to the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry.

According to Jordan News Agency, industrial exports accounted for about 92 percent of total national exports last year, based on foreign trade figures from the Department of Statistics. The growth and positive performance were attributed to ongoing joint efforts by governmental agencies and the private sector to reduce export barriers, explore new markets, and strengthen trade with international partners, as stated by Fathi Jaghbeer, President of the chambers.

Jaghbeer highlighted that the growth was driven by increased exports in four sub-industrial sectors, specifically leather and textiles, food and supplies, livestock, medical supplies, plastics, and rubber. In contrast, he noted that the construction and mining industries, packaging, wood and furniture, engineering, and electrical industries experienced a decline.

He further mentioned that the United States was the leading importer, followed by Arab and European Union countries. There was notable expansion of Jordanian exports to European markets such as Ukraine, Belgium, Norway, Italy, and Finland. Additionally, exports expanded to South Korea and Japan and reached new markets including Myanmar, Latvia, and Luxembourg, emphasizing the quality of Jordanian products. Currently, exports from Jordan reach more than 146 countries.
