The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Shamali, and the Azerbaijan Ambassador to Jordan, Eldar Salimov, discussed on Monday mechanisms of enhancing economic cooperation in various fields to serve common interests.
Shamali stressed Jordan’s interest in developing economic cooperation with Azerbaijan by improving two-way trade, describing it as “modest,” which requires doubling efforts to enhance trade exchange and motivate businessmen to carry out investments projects.
For his part, Azerbaijan’s ambassador said that economic cooperation does not reflect the “distinguished” political relations, adding that he is looking forward to boosting and strengthening ties in various fields.
According to foreign trade data, trade exchange between Jordan and Azerbaijan in 2020 did not exceed $2.5 million, $2 million of which were Jordanian exports including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, iron, and steel.
