Qatraneh: An initiative titled "Our Footprint for a Green Environment" was launched in the Qatraneh district, aiming to plant 2,200 trees in the Silver Jubilee Forest located in the southern Karak governorate. This initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Development with the involvement of various governmental and non-governmental institutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa emphasized the initiative's alignment with the government's directives to preserve the Kingdom's environment. She highlighted the importance of community involvement, noting that the vision of environmental conservation is a national responsibility shared by the public and private sectors, civil society, and local community members.
Bani Mustafa praised the Ministry of Agriculture for its role in promoting forestation efforts and supporting agricultural and environmental projects. The Hareer Foundation for Community Development, a significant contributor to the initiative, organized the event in cooperation with the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, and Social Development, among others.
The minister, while representing the Prime Minister at the launch, stressed the importance of youth-led environmental initiatives. She remarked that youth are integral to building a sustainable future due to their capacity for innovation and change. The involvement of university and school students in the initiative underscores the potential of young people to raise awareness and protect the environment through their ideas and enthusiasm.
Bani Mustafa also noted the potential of youth-driven projects to address pressing environmental issues and expand green spaces, reinforcing the role of young people in environmental conservation efforts.
