Investments in King Hussein Bin Talal Development Area Climb to JD700 Million

Amman: Investments in the King Hussein Bin Talal Development Area have risen by JD125 million over the past three years, bringing the total to JD700 million, according to Director General of Mafraq Development Corporation, Liza Al-Dughmi. She highlighted the strategic location near the borders with Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia as a key attraction for investors.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Dughmi attributed the investment increase to the incentives and facilities provided by Mafraq Development Corporation and the Investment Environment Law's provisions that offer special advantages to development zones. There is a growing demand for new projects, especially in garment manufacturing and metal structures, with all 22,000 square meters of the company's buildings recently leased to investors.

In response to the demand for ready-built facilities, the corporation has issued a tender to construct additional warehouses with a similar floor area of about 22,000 square meters. These new units are expected to be completed early next year.

Regarding the planned dry port project, Al-Dughmi noted that momentum has accelerated due to regional circumstances. A dedicated committee is reviewing expressions of interest from local and international investors to select the most suitable partner for this significant project.

She concluded by emphasizing that the development area now employs 1,850 workers, 90 percent of whom are Jordanian.
