Geneva, A parliamentary delegation, led by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in a dialogue session organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on peace and democracy, held remotely. The participants said that elections are a critical part of a broader strategy to build democracy, strengthen institutions, and establish the principles of justice and equality. The session underscored that elections provide a structured and civilised means for people to select their representatives, contributing to political and social stability. The speakers stressed the importance of conducting elections in a safe environment, supported by a comprehensive framework that bolsters democratic processes. In addition, the participants acknowledged the crucial role of the international community and organisations in overseeing elections and ensuring their fairness, as well as offering technical and logistical support for transparent electoral processes.
