Iran Strikes US Bases in Middle East Following US Attacks

Manama: The Iranian armed forces announced on Tuesday that they launched missile and drone strikes targeting US bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. This action was in response to recent US attacks on southern Iran.

According to Nam News Network, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the United States conducted overnight airstrikes on coastal facilities and several military sites in southern Iran. This followed what Iran described as the US's "defeat" on Monday night in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC accused the US military of trying to escort vessels through an "illegal" route in the Strait of Hormuz. Two supertankers allegedly entered a mined route and were struck after ignoring Iranian warnings.

The IRGC confirmed that their naval and aerospace forces targeted the US military's Juffair base and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. They attacked weapons depots, fuel storage facilities, communications and radar systems, troop accommodations, and a command center for unmanned surface vessels. Additionally, ballistic missiles hit US positions at an airbase in Jordan, highlighting that Iran holds no hostility toward Jordan or its citizens.

In Kuwait, Iran's army claimed to have targeted a "hostile" US vessel with cruise missiles and launched drone strikes on US military facilities. The attacks focused on communications systems, fuel depots, Patriot air defense systems, air traffic control facilities, and an ammunition depot, retaliating against attacks on Iranian military sites and ongoing US aggression.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced via a post on X that their forces completed the latest wave of strikes against Iran late on Monday. The five-hour operation targeted military facilities in several Iranian locations with precision munitions aimed at degrading Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping.

In response to the recent events, Iran has tightened shipping restrictions through the Strait of Hormuz, barring vessels linked to Israel and the US. This move follows joint strikes on Iranian territory by these nations.

These developments mark a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the US, despite a peace memorandum signed on June 18, where both countries were expected to start negotiations within 60 days for a final agreement. US media reported that President Donald Trump formally notified Congress about the resumption of military operations against Iran.
