Amman: Iraq's Ministry of Transport announced on Monday the closure of the country's airspace, including the southern region, in the wake of an Iranian strike targeting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ministry spokesperson Maytham Safi informed the Iraqi News Agency that "Iraq's airspace has been closed to all air traffic, including over the southern region." The decision to close the airspace comes as a precautionary measure following the tensions arising from the strike.
Al Udeid Air Base, a key U.S. military installation in the Middle East, was targeted, prompting regional concerns about security and air travel safety. The closure is expected to impact both domestic and international flights passing through Iraqi airspace.
