Iraqi President and Speaker of Parliament Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues

Baghdad: Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid on Thursday received Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Ahmed Safadi and his accompanying delegation at the Baghdad Palace. President Rashid welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of bolstering communication and coordination between the Iraqi and Jordanian parliaments through the exchange of visits and legislative expertise. He underlined the need to deepen bilateral relations across various sectors to enhance brotherly ties and constructive cooperation.

According to Jordan News Agency, on regional affairs, the Iraqi President stressed the urgent need to end conflicts and de-escalate tensions at both regional and international levels, underscoring the importance of fostering security and stability. He reiterated Iraq's unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their pursuit of legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state.

For his part, Speaker Safadi affirmed the depth of Jordanian-Iraqi relations, noting their longstanding history of collaboration in service of Arab causes. He emphasized Jordan's commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, particularly at the parliamentary level, based on a shared belief in the importance of joint efforts that serve the interests of both nations.
