Amman: The Government of Ireland, through its development program Irish Aid, announced a £1 million contribution to support UNICEF's action plan for children in Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, the grant will address urgent needs of vulnerable children and households in the Kingdom, aligning with Jordan's response plan to humanitarian crises. The statement from UNICEF highlighted that this flexible funding enables the organization to direct resources to areas of greatest need, ensuring swift and effective responses to emergencies.

The statement further mentioned that UNICEF will implement critical interventions across multiple sectors to provide necessary assistance to vulnerable children and households. Deputy UNICEF Representative Shairose Mawji expressed gratitude to the Government of Ireland for its continued partnership and generous support, noting that the contribution comes at a crucial time and aims to enable UNICEF to sustain essential services for the most vulnerable children and families.

Ireland's Ambassador to Jordan, Marianne Bolger, praised Jordan's positive role in responding to the Syrian crisis, especially by hosting Syrian refugees. Bolger also underlined Ireland's commitment to maintaining its funding for the Syrian crisis in 2025 at over £21 million, commending the continued partnership with UNICEF in Jordan through the new £1 million grant.

UNICEF continues to work closely with the Jordanian government, partners, and the international community to meet both urgent and long-term needs of children across the country.
