Beirut: The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has reported a significant escalation in military operations by the Israeli army since the onset of November, leading to several massacres in Lebanon. These attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians, predominantly women, children, and the elderly. According to Jordan News Agency, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor released a statement on Wednesday urging adherence to international humanitarian law. This law requires conflicting parties to consistently distinguish between civilians and combatants during armed conflicts. The organization highlighted that even if the claims of targeting military leaders hold true, launching military operations in civilian areas is unacceptable. Such actions flagrantly disregard the principles of international humanitarian law. Furthermore, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has called for the establishment of a United Nations investigation committee to examine these violations an d alleged international crimes committed in Lebanon. They have urged the international community to take responsibility for monitoring and enforcing international humanitarian law, demanding an end to these violations, which they claim amount to war crimes, and calling for accountability for those responsible.
