The so-called Guardian General’s Unit in the Israeli Justice Ministry is advancing mega plans for the construction of new Jewish settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, an Israeli daily reported Monday.

New designs had been put forward to build Jewish neighbourhoods and complexes in Sheikh Jarrah, one near Damascus Gate, two in Beit Safafa and one each in Beit Hanina and Sur Baher, which would see Palestinian families evicted from their homes, according to documents obtained by Haaretz newspaper.

It said that Palestinian families that lived for decades in properties run by the Guardian General’s Unit will be driven out under the new scheme.
