Hebron: Israeli occupation forces closed the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron to Palestinian worshippers from Wednesday until Thursday evening in observance of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. The closure has sparked condemnation from local Palestinian authorities.
According to Jordan News Agency, Hebron Waqf Director Amjad Karajeh criticized the closure, labeling it as a violation of the mosque's sanctity and the rights of Muslims to access their places of worship. The Jewish holidays often lead to heightened tensions in Hebron, with closures and increased military presence creating obstacles for Palestinian movement, especially in the Old City and around the mosque.
In addition to the mosque closure, Israeli troops conducted search-and-arrest operations across the occupied West Bank. The operations included raids in the Al-Arroub refugee camp, located north of Hebron. The Palestinian Prisoners' Club reported that Israeli forces raided numerous homes, interrogated over 50 individuals, and detained 14 people deemed "wanted."
