Jenin: The Israeli army intensified its military operations on Wednesday, resulting in the injury of four individuals and the detention of 28 others during a raid in the West Bank, while also launching attacks in the Gaza Strip despite a standing ceasefire, according to medics and witnesses.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that four people sustained injuries after being physically assaulted by Israeli soldiers in the town of Jaba, located south of Jenin in the northern West Bank. The raid also saw Israeli forces detain 28 residents and conduct searches of numerous homes, with some questioning occurring on-site inside a residence.
Concurrently, Israeli military forces targeted several areas within the Gaza Strip, contravening the ceasefire that has been effective since October 10. Witnesses stated that Israeli artillery struck near the al-Fakhoura School, which provides shelter to displaced Palestinians west of the Jabalia refugee camp. This area had previously seen the withdrawal of Israeli troops under the ceasefire agreement.
The Israeli military also conducted an airstrike in territories they still occupy east of Jabalia, accompanied by significant gunfire from military vehicles, witnesses reported. In Gaza City, shelling by Israeli forces targeted the al-Tuffah neighborhood in the east, with additional artillery impacting central Gaza. An airstrike was also reported east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp.
Further south in Gaza, airstrikes by Israeli warplanes targeted Rafah, areas still under Israeli control, and helicopter gunfire was directed at the region, according to witnesses. No casualty details have been released yet.
In the southern city of Khan Younis, an Israeli drone attack injured a Palestinian civilian seriously, as reported by medics. Additionally, Israeli naval forces fired shells toward the Fash Farsh coastal area west of Rafah in southern Gaza, though no injuries were reported, medical sources confirmed.
Gaza's Health Ministry reported that at least 414 people have been killed and 1,145 others injured in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire. Since October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of more than 71,000 people and injuries to over 171,000 others, devastating the enclave. The United Nations has estimated that reconstruction will cost approximately $70 billion.
