Tel aviv: The Israeli Supreme Court on Friday issued a decision freezing the government's ban on 37 foreign humanitarian and relief organizations operating in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, pending a final ruling. The decision allows these organizations to continue their activities temporarily, following a petition against the ban.

According to Jordan News Agency, the petition was filed by the aid organizations, including M©decins Sans Fronti¨res (Doctors Without Borders) and Oxfam, seeking the cancellation of the ban after the Israeli government revoked their operating permits. The court's temporary injunction permits the organizations to maintain their current operations but restricts them from rotating staff or bringing in new equipment or medical supplies into Gaza or the West Bank during this interim period.

Justice Daphne Barak-Erez emphasized that the court's decision is temporary and does not aim to change the current situation or grant additional rights. A hearing on the petition has been scheduled to take place as soon as possible to address the matter further.

On December 30, 2025, the 37 international organizations were informed that their registration with Israeli authorities had expired and were given a 60-day period to renew it by submitting a list of their Palestinian employees. Failure to comply with these requirements would necessitate the cessation of their operations in the occupied Palestinian territories as of March 1.
