Italian Democratic Party Leader Says Israelis Reject Netanyahu’s Gaza Plans

Rome: The Secretary of Italy's Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, said on Monday that a strike organized by the families of prisoners and joined by millions of Israelis underscored their rejection of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's "criminal plans" to occupy the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, Schlein emphasized the necessity of halting Netanyahu's actions in Gaza and the West Bank immediately. She called for support for the growing opposition within Israeli society against the war.

Separately, the head of the party's Senate bloc, Francesco Boccia, echoed similar sentiments on social media, highlighting that hundreds of thousands of Israelis are protesting against Netanyahu and the far-right elements in the government. Boccia noted that many Israelis are advocating for the release of prisoners and a ceasefire in Gaza, adding that the Democratic Party backs the freedom of the Palestinian people.
