Amman: The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) recently entered into a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in sustainable development and environmental protection. The agreement was signed by the Director of Logistics Supply of the Armed Forces and UNDP Resident Representative in Jordan, Randa Aboul-Hosn.
According to Jordan News Agency, the memorandum establishes a framework for incorporating environmental sustainability practices within military institutions. This involves upgrading the Ordnance Disposal Center's capabilities to safely and environmentally manage military waste and reduce carbon emissions. The Logistics Supply Chief emphasized that this initiative aligns with the JAF General Command's directives to adopt sustainable development practices and support national environmental protection efforts. He highlighted the role of the Armed Forces in optimizing natural resource use and minimizing pollutants.
UNDP's representative praised the collaboration with JAF, describing it as a model for integrating environmental considerations into military and institutional operations. She affirmed the program's commitment to continue providing technical and logistical support to develop joint projects.
The memorandum highlights JAF's dedication to expanding partnerships with international organizations and investing in national resources to advance environmental and developmental efforts. This aligns with the Hashemite leadership's directives to enhance international cooperation for national benefit. Senior JAF officers were present at the signing ceremony.
