Amman: Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)'s Military Media Directorate/Military Documentation Center and the University of Jordan (UJ)'s Documents, Manuscripts, and Levant Studies Center have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the areas of archiving, documentation, manuscript preservation, and scientific research. The agreement was formalized on Tuesday, with Brig. Gen. Mustafa Hiyari and Dr. Nada Rawabdeh representing their respective institutions during the signing ceremony.
According to Jordan News Agency, the MoU aims to facilitate joint efforts in the fields of archiving, preservation, conservation, and restoration of documents and manuscripts. Additionally, it promotes the exchange of publications, books, and scripts, while also organizing collaborative activities and exhibitions. The agreement highlights the commitment of both parties to enhance knowledge and skills in these areas.
A joint statement revealed that both institutions plan to conduct specialized training courses focusing on paper and electronic archiving activities. These courses will cover information preservation, management, and documentation, particularly in the domains of libraries, information, and restoration science. The initiative is expected to enrich national expertise and understanding in these fields.
The memorandum is part of a broader strategy to support documentation and archiving efforts, protect national heritage, and facilitate the transfer of expertise. The statement further emphasized the importance of this collaboration in bolstering scientific research related to document management and heritage preservation.
