JBA and Omani Ambassador Explore Paths to Enhance Economic Ties

Amman: Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) President Ayman Alawneh and Omani Ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Fahad Bin Abdul Rahman Alojaili engaged in discussions to bolster economic and investment cooperation between Jordan and Oman, focusing on expanding private-sector partnerships.

According to Jordan News Agency, a statement issued by the JBA on Tuesday highlighted Alawneh's emphasis on the robust Jordanian-Omani ties, underscoring the leadership-backed foundation these relations provide for advancing economic and investment opportunities. Alawneh advocated for transforming these ties into practical projects and partnerships that align with mutual interests.

Alawneh identified significant opportunities for deepening cooperation in sectors such as tourism and medical tourism, citing Jordan's capabilities in healthcare and tourism. He also mentioned the potential for collaboration in mining and related industries and stressed the importance of enhancing banking and financial services to support trade, investment, and joint ventures between the two countries.

The JBA president expressed a commitment to expanding engagement with Oman's private sector. He highlighted the aim to build sustainable partnerships between business communities to increase trade, encourage joint investments, and leverage opportunities across various economic sectors. Alawneh noted that Jordan offers an attractive investment environment with modern legislation, competitive incentives, a strategic location, and free trade agreements granting investors access to regional and global markets.

Alawneh also conveyed the JBA's interest in organizing joint business delegations and economic meetings to further cooperation. In response, Ambassador Alojaili reaffirmed the strength of Jordanian-Omani relations and advocated for increasing interactions between business leaders, exchanging visits, and initiating joint investment projects in priority sectors to boost trade and deliver economic benefits.

Trade volume between Jordan and Oman reached $167 million in 2024, an increase from $157 million in 2023, as per official data. Jordan's leading untapped export opportunities in the Omani market include fertilizers, live animals, chemical products, and garments.
