Amman: The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) has achieved a global milestone after its "Trade and Logistics Performance Gateway" project was selected as one of the top 13 "pioneering" projects worldwide in the 2026 Digital Economy Lighthouse Awards. This recognition acknowledges the project's role in supporting digital transformation, enhancing trade efficiency, and improving logistics performance.
According to Jordan News Agency, this milestone was made after competing with 308 projects and initiatives submitted by more than 60 countries as part of a global program aimed at monitoring, documenting, and expanding innovative digital solutions with economic and social impact, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Commenting on the achievement, JCD Director General, Ahmed Akalik, stated that this "global" recognition serves as an "incentive to continue working with a spirit of innovation and leadership, and further develop high-quality initiatives that enhance Jordan's standing at both the regional and international levels." The JCD's Trade and Logistics Performance Gateway project is a "pioneering model for digital transformation in the trade sector.
