Amman: The Jordanian National Centre for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC) has formalized a partnership with the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening joint efforts in emergency response and coordination.
According to Jordan News Agency, the memorandum establishes a framework for future collaborative training activities, following the Prime Minister's directive for JCDC to oversee the implementation of a national plan addressing pandemic diseases. Dr. Adel Belbisi, Chairman of JCDC, highlighted the memo's objective to initiate discussions on health challenges, develop response plans, and ensure readiness for public health emergencies.
The agreement also aims to promote mutual awareness campaigns to prevent pandemics and manage health threats. Dr. Belbisi emphasized NCSCM's role in enhancing the nation's crisis response capabilities, particularly in the health sector, by providing crucial information for decision-making.
The memorandum outlines plans for joint simulation exercises and pilot training sessions. Brig. Gen. Hatem Zoubi, NCSCM Deputy Chairman, underscored the necessity of integration and coordination among national stakeholders to effectively handle crises and disasters. Zoubi advocated for the creation of a national risk register to foster a secure environment and emphasized the need for a comprehensive national database to support informed decision-making with accurate data.
To realize these goals, Zoubi mentioned the development of flexible and effective response teams and stressed the importance of ongoing coordination to reduce potential risks and educate the public on protective measures. The parties agreed on a mechanism to monitor the implementation of the memorandum's provisions in the upcoming period.
