JCLA and AND Launch Nationwide Anti-Drug Campaign to Combat Drug Abuse

Amman: The Justice Center for Legal Aid (JCLA), in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), has initiated a national awareness campaign titled "Remember Who You Are." This campaign aims to enhance community-based awareness regarding the health and legal risks associated with drug use.

According to Jordan News Agency, the campaign seeks to unify the efforts of Jordan's official institutions and civil society organizations to tackle the issue of drug abuse and safeguard future generations. Supported by the French Embassy for Development, the initiative introduces a vision that encourages individuals to protect themselves and their communities without apprehension.

The campaign will span four weeks, during which awareness messages and videos will be disseminated on social media platforms to provide information about the dangers of drugs and their health and psychological impacts. Additionally, field awareness sessions will be conducted for youth and parents to address early signs of drug abuse and promote open family dialogues.

Community engagement is a key component, with medical and legal specialists, community members, and AND officers participating to emphasize the importance of reporting incidents and early intervention. They will also highlight the health and legal consequences of addiction on individuals and society.

To further support these efforts, an electronic drug awareness platform has been launched. This platform offers information on the health and psychological effects of drugs, legal aspects, and available support and treatment options. It also aims to facilitate access to official resources and encourage victims to seek assistance.
