JEDCO Chief Sponsors Environmental Impact Assessment Diploma Graduation Ceremony

Amman:Director General of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), Ghaleb Hijazi, sponsored the graduation ceremony for participants of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) diploma program, which was organized by the Jordan Environment Society (JES).

According to Jordan News Agency, Hijazi emphasized the importance of collaboration with civil society organizations, technical experts, and the private sector to support eco-friendly entrepreneurial ventures. This collaboration is vital for translating national sustainable development and green economy policies into actionable projects. He also highlighted that environmental transformation, along with green and blue economies, is a key component of the Economic Modernization Vision championed by King Abdullah II. Achieving these strategic goals requires collaboration across various sectors.

Hijazi mentioned that JEDCO is considering plans to provide direct funding for environmentally sustainable projects or those aimed at reducing environmental impacts, contingent upon budget availability and necessary approvals. He stressed the importance of forming partnerships with experts to offer technical mentorship to project owners, especially in the governorates outside the capital. JEDCO's "Tatweer" (Development) program is aimed at supporting enterprises in manufacturing, agriculture, and services, including hydroponics, aquaculture, and fabric recycling, with a focus on project viability and sustainability.

JES Chairman Ali Azbi Freihat reiterated the society's commitment to serving as a center of expertise for environmental work at various levels, underscoring that environmental protection is a national duty and a civilized necessity. Maan Nassayreh, Director of the JES Training Center, detailed the diploma curriculum, which included EIA methodologies, impact evaluation, report drafting, and strategies for waste management, biodiversity preservation, and climate change adaptation.

Nancy Al-Khairi, JES Administrative and Financial Director, outlined ongoing initiatives such as community participation projects supported by the Environment Protection Fund and the capacity-building program funded by the Small Grants Programme. She also announced plans for a conference on littering in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Education.

The ceremony concluded with Hijazi presenting certificates to the graduates, while JES honored Hijazi with a commemorative award recognizing his sponsorship.
