Jerash Governorate Implements Measures to Address Agricultural Pond Safety Concerns

Jerash: Jerash Governor Malek Khreisat announced that the governorate has initiated measures to address the risks posed by agricultural ponds, identifying approximately 200 such ponds within the area.

According to Jordan News Agency, Khreisat stated that pond owners will be called to a meeting to inform them of their obligations and emphasize the importance of adhering to public safety protocols. The governorate is set to enforce stricter requirements, mandating that pond owners implement comprehensive preventive and safety measures. These measures include securing ponds with protective fencing and installing warning signs and guidance notices.

Khreisat highlighted that the public safety department of the governorate, in collaboration with the Jerash Agriculture Directorate and the Jerash Water Administration Directorate, has conducted field visits to each agricultural pond. The purpose of these visits is to verify compliance with established public safety standards and procedures. Any identified violations will lead to legal action against the responsible parties.

He emphasized that the safety of citizens remains a top priority, stating that any negligence or violation concerning the ponds will result in strict legal repercussions, including referrals to the appropriate authorities.
