JMD Warns of Heavy Rainfall, Flood Risks in Southern and Central Regions

Amman: Heavy rainfall is currently affecting the southern governorates of Ma'an, Aqaba, and parts of Tafila, with forecasts indicating that the rain will gradually extend to central regions in the coming hours, according to Raed Al-Khatib, Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Khatib emphasized that Shobak is experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall at times, which is contributing to the replenishment of the country's water reserves.

The JMD has issued a warning regarding the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, particularly in the southern regions, including Aqaba, as well as in central and eastern areas. Additionally, thunderstorms, hail, and reduced visibility due to dust are expected, especially in desert regions.
