Amman: Minister of Social Development and Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment Chair, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, on Wednesday welcomed a delegation led by Arab Women Investors Union President, Chairperson of the Businesswomen Association for Development in Egypt, Hoda Yassa. The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation between Jordan and the Arab Women Investors Union to further women's empowerment initiatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, the minister reviewed initiatives in the Women's Empowerment Strategy of the Economic Modernization Vision, aimed at unlocking potential to boost women's economic participation. Mustafa highlighted legislative amendments designed to support women's roles in the labor market, including changes to labor, social security, and companies' legislation. These amendments are part of broader efforts to improve women's economic engagement and ensure a decent work environment.

Mustafa also referred to the institutional seal of equality for the private and public sectors, which is being developed in accordance with international standards and tailored to national needs. This initiative is scheduled for launch in 2026. She emphasized Jordan's progress in women's political and economic participation, noting its improved rankings in the Global Gender Gap Index. Jordan has advanced four places with a 12.5-point increase, scoring 59.4 out of 100, which is above the Middle East and North Africa average.

Additionally, Mustafa mentioned ongoing preparations for a draft social responsibility policy aimed at enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors and expanding social services for the Ministry's target groups.

In her remarks, Hoda Yassa stressed the importance of the private sector's role in serving vulnerable groups within social responsibility frameworks. She expressed her aspiration for future cooperation with the Ministry's programs and services, underscoring the potential for collaborative efforts to bolster women's empowerment in the region.
