Amman: The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the People's Republic of China have issued a joint statement following the conclusion of talks between His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Xi Jinping in Beijing. The discussions, held during King Abdullah's state visit from August 18 to 24, 2026, reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to enhance their strategic partnership and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, the statement highlighted the steady growth of diplomatic relations since 1977, culminating in a Strategic Partnership established in 2015. This partnership has bolstered mutual political trust, practical cooperation, and cultural exchanges, aligning with the priorities of both nations. The leaders emphasized their intent to deepen this partnership as they approach the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.
The joint statement outlined agreements to enhance collaboration in fields such as trade, investment, energy, education, and tourism. Both sides agreed to explore emerging sectors, including the digital and green economies, and to launch direct flights to boost tourism. They also committed to cooperation in environmental conservation and law enforcement, underscoring their shared dedication to combatting terrorism.
King Abdullah expressed appreciation for China's global initiatives, while President Xi commended Jordan's role in promoting regional stability. The leaders stressed the importance of supporting UN mandates and ensuring humanitarian aid to Gaza. They also reiterated their support for the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, advocating for Palestine's full UN membership.
