Amman: The Jordanian-Egyptian Parliamentary Brotherhood Committee engaged in discussions with Egyptian Ambassador Khaled Abyad to explore avenues for enhancing strategic ties and cooperation between Jordan and Egypt.
According to Jordan News Agency, the talks focused on broadening collaboration across a range of sectors, including parliamentary, economic, trade, cultural, energy, transport, and tourism. A key aspect of the discussions was leveraging Egypt's experience in developing its New Capital, highlighting a mutual interest in shared developmental goals.
Committee Chair Abdel Nasir Hashim Mahmoud Khasawneh highlighted the growing cooperation between Amman and Cairo, underpinned by the historical relationship between the two nations. He acknowledged the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in strengthening these ties.
Khasawneh also emphasized the Hashemite Custodianship of Jerusalem's holy sites and firmly rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians. He called on the international community to uphold Palestinian statehood, reflecting Jordan's consistent stance on this critical issue.
Echoing these sentiments, Ambassador Abyad praised King Abdullah II's leadership and Jordan's firm position on the Palestinian cause. He also acknowledged the significant role of the Jordanian parliament in advancing bilateral cooperation, underscoring the shared commitment to deepening the partnership between the two countries.
