Moscow: Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah met in Moscow with Daniyar Imanaliev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), to discuss the potential for expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Jordan and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
According to Jordan News Agency, both ministers emphasized that enhancing joint coordination between their respective business sectors would lead to the creation of new commercial opportunities and an overall increase in trade volume. Minister Qudah highlighted the importance of implementing the existing memorandum of understanding by establishing a dedicated trade and investment working group. He proposed that the group's first session be held in Moscow later this year.
Qudah further elaborated that drafting a targeted roadmap and aligning regulatory policies are crucial steps towards initiating formal negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) or a preferential trade agreement (PTA). Such agreements would open new avenues for private-sector growth and cooperation.
Imanaliev expressed the EAEU's keen interest in exploring ways to strengthen economic frameworks with Jordan. He emphasized the transition from mere dialogue to actionable steps that would yield concrete mutual benefits for both parties, marking a significant step forward in their economic relations.
