Amman: Minister of Investment, Tareq Abughazaleh, met with French Ambassador to Jordan, Franck Gellet, to discuss ways to strengthen economic and investment cooperation between the two countries in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives. The discussions focused on expanding investment opportunities in priority sectors under the economic modernization vision.
According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of Jordanian-French relations and the necessity to build on the outcomes of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II's visit to France. This visit opened new avenues for cooperation in economic sectors, investment, and innovation. He further noted that the ministry aims to enhance the business environment through legislative updates and investment facilitation. Currently, there are 52 French companies registered in Jordan with a capital exceeding JD1.1 billion, showcasing confidence in Jordan's economy.
Gellet praised the friendship and cooperation between Jordan and France, as well as the economic reforms undertaken to improve the investment climate. He affirmed France's commitment to supporting Jordan's economic and investment development process and enhancing bilateral cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, water, technology, and innovation.
The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation under the Jordan-European Partnership, with a particular focus on green transition, digital economy, and sustainable infrastructure. Institutional cooperation was highlighted as a means to deepen economic ties between Jordan and the European Union.
